Jonathan Bond Club Career
Bond attended Berkhamsted School and progressed through Watford’s academy program, playing for the youth and reserve teams at Vicarage Road. Bond filled in for the injured Rene Gilmartin on multiple occasions during the 2010–11 season for Watford and also spent time on loan at Brackley Town.
Bond once more joined Brackley Town on loan in August 2011 to obtain some playing experience.
The following day, Bond made his Forest Green debut in a 4-1 victory over Alfreton Town.
During his loan with Forest Green, Bond made a total of four games until Watford brought him back a week early.
Bond served as Scott Loach’s backup goalkeeper upon his return to Watford. On January 2, 2012, Bond made his first team debut in place of Loach, who had been dismissed during Watford’s 2-0 loss to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
Bond signed a one-month loan agreement with League Two club Dagenham & Redbridge on February 23, 2012. After that, he moved to Bury on loan until the conclusion of the campaign and made his debut in Brentford’s 3-0 loss on April 7th.
In a 2-1 victory over Derby County on February 23, 2013, Bond made his home league debut after replacing the injured Manuel Almunia, who had started Watford’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City on January 5, 2013. On March 1, 2013, Bond started his first league game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He subsequently proceeded to fill in for injured Almunia, starting matches against Sheffield Wednesday on March 5, Blackpool on March 9, Barnsley on March 16, and Burnley again on March 29, all in his place. On April 2, 2013, against Hull City, Bond made his sixth consecutive start because Almunia wasn’t match-ready. He kept his first clean sheet and was named man of the match in the 1-0 victory.
Almunia suffered an injury during warm-up for the season’s last league game against Leeds United on May 4, 2013, and Bond filled in. After a terrible collision with Ikechi Anya and Dominic Poleon that required him to leave on a stretcher, Bond then had a catastrophic injury of his own.

Although he did not participate in the matches, Bond was called up to the entire Wales squad in 2010 at the age of 17 for two Euro 2012 qualification matches.
Despite having played for Wales, the FAW reported on July 19 that Bond had decided to shift to the English national pool. In August 2013, Bond was called up to the English under-21 team.
