PSL kits 2022/2023: PSL Clubs New Home and Away Kits
Maritzburg United Kits: 4/10
On the shirt, there is a lot going on, including an inconsistent criss-cross design that clashes horribly with a green sponsor’s logo.
The less said about the grey and bright alternate outfit for the Team of Choice, the better.
SuperSport United Kits: 4/10
SSU had some impressive designs while they were working with Kappa, but Umbro hardly moved one inch with these drab styles that might pass for practice gear.
Marumo Gallants Kits: 5/10
However, for the time being, Gallants are still sporting their 2019/20 kits. The club disclosed that the new home kit, which is green with black, patterned sleeves, is designed to be a fan jersey.
The blue splotches on Gallants’ green Umbro away uniform from last season didn’t look nice, and they don’t seem any better this season either.
While we appreciate innovation, Gallants’ selection seems to have fallen short with the exception of the blue home kit with green splashes.
According to the club’s statement from a year ago, “the uniform is influenced by its corporate brand and pay offline, with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa (warriors) symbolized by a camouflage style and feel.”
“The home kit is navy blue, the away kit is green, while the alternative jersey is gold.”
We’re certainly excited about them switching to the newer designs as soon as possible.
Richards Bay Kits 5/10
In order to synchronize with the release of their new uniforms, the KwaZulu-Natal team chose to announce the acquisition of Memela. To be honest, the recruitment of the former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu striker was much more noteworthy.
The home jersey is a fairly understated dark blue design with white trim and subtle pinstripes, and the away uniform is nearly identical with somewhat darker trim.
The Natal Rich Boyz put out a rather lackluster effort; they will hope that their football receives a pulse rating even if their jerseys do not.
Royal AM Kits: 6/10
Royal AM have chosen a black kit with gold trim and a big eagle’s wing over the front of the jersey, taking a cue from the Venezia school of fashion.
It can come out as somewhat gaudy when combined with the club’s crest.
These initiatives are well-liked by some PSL fans—especially now that black kits are more valued than they once were—but Thwihli Thwahla’s overt “royal” branding seems somewhat unauthentic given that they acquired their position among the elite from Bloemfontein Celtic.
The yellow and red sleeve trim is undoubtedly eye-catching, and the buttoned collar is a lovely finishing touch.
Chippa United Kits: 6.5/10
RADA, the club’s technical sponsor and a company controlled by the organization’s head, Chippa Mpengesi, produced the design.
Golden Arrows Kits: 7/10
Despite being eye-catching, it may not be as original as it might be considering the wealth of creative alternatives associated with the Golden Arrows brand.
The jersey is contrasted by gold bands across the neck and arms, similar to other green uniforms in the league.
However, arrows should be praised for their “lightning bolt” away gear.
Sekhukhune FC Kits: 7.5/10
Sekhukhune’s creations are extremely bizarre mixtures.
The bottom half of the kits, which have a distinctive pattern based on the club’s totem, make up for the upper half’s very dull Kappa design—you might remember it from the bargain bins some 20 years ago.
Fans of Babina Noko may wear this inspirational design with pride because the porcupine (noko), a central figure in Pendi culture, is there.
Orlando Pirates Kits: 7.5/10
The attempt from this year checks all the right boxes, but the design isn’t very innovative or eye-catching.
Some fans have complained that the base color isn’t as dark as in past seasons, and despite the patterned fabric, the white away kit isn’t all that creative either.
The Buccaneers are one of several teams who have adopted a white away jersey, albeit they lack some of their competitors’ originality.
Mamelodi Sundowns Kits: 8/10
A sophisticated donation from Puma, whose partnership with Mamelodi Sundowns is still going strong.
The sports brand combined the renowned gold base of the current champions with a strong green trim, and the fabric’s design added an extra touch of style.
In an effort to capture Sundowns’ African roots and competitive spirit this season, Puma defined it as a “debossed African print with calabashes, antelope, drums, pyramids, and warriors.”
Footballers want to be fashionable both on and off the field, according to Sundowns brand manager Teko Modise. “The debossed emblems on the jersey will motivate the players to the next level and continue to battle regardless of how tough it could be,” the player said of the jersey’s texture and design.
The gold home kit is complemented by the Brazilians’ blue away kit.
TS Galaxy Kits: 8/10
The home jersey, which has the team’s traditional black and red color scheme, has a dazzling design, and the multicolored bands on the collar and sleeves are wonderful embellishments.
The light blue and off-pink color palette chosen by Galaxy for the away design contrasts wonderfully with the bright trim.
Some fans are dissatisfied since the home uniform doesn’t significantly differ from the one from the previous season, but they will miss the previous light blue and white away outfit.
Kaizer Chiefs Kits: 8.5/10
The team’s marketing and commercial director, Jessica Motaung, is certain that this year’s Nike designs will blend in well with the group’s traditional uniforms from the past.
The producers have created a unique style to commemorate their 50 years in business, and the geometric print adds a contemporary and striking element to the PSL catwalk.
The away uniform is an immediate classic, with Nike marrying a simple white kit with the instantly recognised gold of Chiefs.
Amakhosi would be a contender if the PSL were decided just based on jerseys.
The Glamour Boys must, sadly, do business on the field.
Swallows FC Kits: 8.5/10
A really distinctive kit is produced by the silhouetted Swallows on the maroon cloth, which provide motion and distance to the design.
Although the white away kit, which has a large maroon swallow over the chest, isn’t as good as the home effort, the white and maroon colors go nicely together.
However, might this collection rank among the season’s highlights for the PSL kit bag?
Cape Town City Kits: 9/10
Their home kit has a gorgeous swirling pattern in two blue tones with vivid yellow trim at the neck and sleeves.
The Mother City team will undoubtedly proudly represent South Africa in the Caf Champions League this season while sporting this design. The yellow CTCFC badge pairs beautifully with the eye-catching FNB logo.
AmaZulu Kits: 9/10
Another impressive offering from AmaZulu, who just collaborated with Umbro on their newest designs.
The dark orange trim on the sleeves and the jagged orange pattern along the shanks contrast with the turquoise home strip’s patterned graphic on the cloth.
The recognizable AmaZulu logo and the Spar sponsor round out an excellent job.
The white and dark green color palette of the away kit is complemented by three bars of tonal writing in the fabric.
The lettering, which is a collection of Zulu national anthems, appears from a distance as thin stripes down the shirt.
Additionally, their promotional video exudes sophistication.
Stellenbosch Kits: 9/10
Stellies are a special addition to the PSL, and Le Coq Sportif are the ideal partner for Stellenbosch. Their 22-23 designs are a great embodiment of those aspects.
These designs depict Winelands all over them; the home offering’s maroon foundation is highlighted by a gold trim, and the away design includes a white background with maroon and gold accents.
The club said when the kits were presented, “This is an uniform that speaks to a message of purpose, it speaks to a message of a moment, and it speaks to a message of what this club stands for.”
Stunning work from Stellenbosch as they attempt to improve on their fourth-place showing from the previous year.
